We are interested in mathematics and its application to the understanding of society and nature. We will look at econometric models, information theory, the Gaia hypothesis, and nonlinear dynamical systems with the aim of deriving insights into a variety of areas inlcuding long-term public policy and natural and biological phenomena. We will also occasionally look back at cathartic historical developments such as cartography and the discovery of Maxwell's equations.
